AES’s review and replacement of old lighting with low energy alternatives, reduced annual KWh consumption by 53,928 (48%) and annual CO2 consumption by 28,291 (48%) and saving £4,313 (48%) in annual running costs. What’s more, the working environment was transformed whilst generating a ROI within 16 months.

Challenges

Engineering solutions innovators Bibby Turboflex were spending too much time, money and effort on the constant maintenance of the old sodium light fittings in their manufacturing area. In addition this outdated lighting technology was not only consuming large amounts of energy to run, it was also not conducive to a really well-lit working environment.

Solution

After a full review of the existing lighting, AES replaced each old fitting with 4 x 55w PLL fittings. It wasn’t necessary to replace or modify the existing wiring. As a result, illumination levels increased, giving employees a more effective space to work in. Maintenance requirements were reduced and consumption costs plummeted, saving Bibby Turboflex £4,313 per annum in running costs. The entire project provided a return on investment within 16 months. All work was tested and certified to BS7671.
